life status 03/27/08 [Mar. 27th, 2008|01:03 pm]
Attendance in math class seems to be dwindling class after class. Not a surprise, since the teacher is unable to teach in an engaging fashion and fails to take attendance anyway. You can learn everything off the homework assignments, since they come with pages of the textbook online. I just keep attending because I'm a Good Student.

I'm not sure if Japanese class is becoming more difficult, or if I'm just too tired in the mornings now. I'm tripping over my words more than usual, but that's probably since Japanese class is my first class of the day, thusly the first words out of my mouth are of a foreign language. Maybe I should just talk to myself for an hour to prep my voice. Also I probably shouldn't scarf down breakfast right before class. I'm kind of behind on some grammar bits... should review them.

English is more of the teacher talking at us. As such, I've not done much of the reading, but I guess I should actually read these three books of Paradise Lost since we have a quiz on it next Tuesday. They seem fairly short, but this Milton fellow's writing style blows my mind.

One thing I've started doing is bringing my sketchbook into class to pass the time. It's good drawing practice, and it actually helps me focus on lectures more. Hm.

Anyway, here's a video

magic play is dancing [Mar. 14th, 2008|01:09 am]
Thanks for crazy people, Boston.

So yeah, internet friend, friend of internet friend and I went out for dinner, and a good time was had by all. On our way back to the train, we were walking down a rather empty road. A ninja-like man with a metal cane spotted us, and attempted conversation with the various members of our party (numbering three.) Seems he couldn't form sentences right, so we just began to walk fast. We managed to get a good block away from this troubled fellow, and I thought that was the last of it-- until he started charging us with his fucking cane held high in the air. Friend of internet friend and I began to dash, while slower internet friend stayed behind-- crazy man wasn't interested in him, anyway. We dashed to the train station and hid, leaving internet friend for a little bit on his own, hoping for the best.

We came out from hiding moments later to assess the situation. Crazy man was gone, and internet friend was gone, too. We searched around, acquired weapons (loose brick off the sidewalk) and generally panicked. Internet friend was eventually found in the train station-- seems we just missed each other, or something. We then headed back to my place, and a good time was had by all (while they cringed at my hugpillows)

skool [Mar. 7th, 2008|07:46 pm]
College classes can be really great, but sometimes they can suck. Here's a rundown.

English: Early class and no one seems to want to discuss anything. Which is fine, since the teacher basically runs his mouth for 75 or so minutes. Sometimes there are discussions-- I wish there were more. Also, since this is a lit course we cover a large amount of works, so the time spent on each work is quite superficial given the course only runs for one semester. It's not enriching at all.

Math: There's a slight discrepancy between what's taught in class, what we get for homework, and what's put on tests. The teacher uses MathXL for the homework, so he doesn't make any of it himself. Same with the tests, except they're on paper. The teacher himself knows what he's doing but has no confidence and each time he talks he sounds like a whinny kid. God.

New Media New Markets: BS webdesign class, so it's fucking easy. The teacher is fine, but everyone else finds issue with him. But I'm not really one to hate on teachers, with some exceptions.

Japanese: 楽しいですよ。

Anyway, here's a groovy Pizzicato Five track.

Not sure how often I'll post back here again. I've kind of wanted to talk about school lately, so I guess I'll just post that stuff here. Will cross post to Facebook notes.
